Mission Statement

Our Mission: To build a pipeline of skilled, ethical, and future-ready fintech professionals in Lagos and across Nigeria — equipping them with technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and leadership skills to scale inclusive financial solutions.

"Our goal is to turn curiosity into capability — to make careers in fintech accessible, meaningful, and impactful for Nigerians from all backgrounds."
— Lagos Fintech Hub
📌 Why Talent & Capacity Building Matters for Lagos' Fintech Future

Lagos is the beating heart of Nigeria's digital economy. The city is home to the majority of the nation's fintech startups, from early-stage challengers to fast-growing scaleups. But technology alone does not create sustainable companies — people do. Building skills at scale is essential for:

✅ Closing the skills gap (developers, compliance officers, product managers)
✅ Reducing time-to-market for validated products
✅ Increasing investor confidence through operational excellence
✅ Ensuring digital solutions are inclusive and secure

At Lagos Fintech Hub, Pillar 4 focuses on practical learning pathways, accredited certifications, mentorship, and job placement — tailored to Nigeria's local context and industry needs.

📌 Our Story — From a Meetup to a Movement

When Lagos Fintech Hub began, it started as an informal meetup: a handful of students, one or two founders, and a couple of curious engineers.

Soon, requests for hands-on training multiplied. Our team responded by designing bootcamps, internships, and an academy — and what began as a small class of 25 participants grew into structured, high-impact cohorts training thousands.

"I was a banking graduate working in a call center. After Lagos Fintech Hub's bootcamp, I landed a junior product role — and later managed a team of three engineers. That journey changed my life."
— Amina, 2023 Cohort
📌 The Pillar 4 Framework — What We Teach and Why

Our curriculum is structured across three levels: Foundational, Specialized, and Leadership & Entrepreneurship. Each level combines technical training with real-world projects, regulatory literacy, and soft skills.

Foundational Digital Skills

Who it's for: Beginners, career-switchers, recent graduates.

Core topics include:

  • ✅ Digital literacy & collaboration tools (Git, Slack, Google Workspace)
  • ✅ Basic finance & payments concepts — how money moves in Nigeria
  • ✅ Introductory coding (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for product-minded learners
  • ✅ Job readiness: CV building, interview prep, personal branding
📌 Specialized Fintech Skills

Who it's for: Junior professionals, developers, analysts.

Specialized modules include:

  • ✅ Payments & API integration (PSP onboarding, NIBSS essentials)
  • ✅ Data analytics & dashboards for product managers
  • ✅ RegTech: building compliance into product flows (KYC, AML)
  • ✅ Blockchain fundamentals and DeFi safety for practical use-cases
  • ✅ Cybersecurity basics for fintech operations
📌 Leadership & Entrepreneurship

Who it's for: Aspiring founders, product leads, managers.

Leadership modules focus on:

  • ✅ Product strategy and roadmap planning
  • ✅ Investor communication & fundraising readiness
  • ✅ People management and building high-performing teams
  • ✅ Ethical decision-making and consumer protection in product design

📌 How We Design Curriculum — Industry-Driven, Locally Relevant

We follow a simple principle: teach what the market needs. Our curriculum designers work closely with hiring partners across Lagos to understand the skills employers seek. This results in:

Key Design Principles
  • ✅ Short, modular courses aligned to job roles
  • ✅ Practical assessments instead of theoretical exams
  • ✅ Ongoing updates reflecting regulatory changes (e.g., CBN sandbox rules, NDPR updates)
  • ✅ Project-based learning tied to local use-cases (market traders, remittance agents, micro-lenders)
📌 Partnerships That Amplify Impact

Training at scale requires partnerships. We collaborate with:

NITDA
NITDA

📌 Career Pathways & Placement

Our placement pipeline connects academy graduates to paid internships, junior roles, and contractor opportunities with partner startups and banks. We use a three-stage placement process:

1
Skills Verification

Practical assessments used to validate candidate abilities through real-world project simulations and technical evaluations.

2
Employer Matching

Alignment of candidate skills with partner job requirements to ensure optimal fit and long-term success.

3
Onboarding Support

Pre-hire coaching and trial projects to ensure a smooth transition from training to employment.

Placement outcomes are tracked and published in our annual impact report to ensure transparency and continuous improvement.

📌 Mentorship & Alumni Network

Beyond training, mentorship is critical. We run a structured mentorship program pairing learners with experienced fintech professionals for 6–12 months. Mentors help with:

  • ✅ Portfolio review and project feedback
  • ✅ Career navigation and salary negotiation
  • ✅ Introductions to hiring managers and investors
"Mentorship gave me not only technical guidance but a sense of belonging in the fintech community — that network opened doors I couldn't have reached alone."
— Tunde, Product Analyst
📌 Women in Fintech — Closing the Gender Gap

Women are underrepresented in technical and leadership roles across Nigerian fintech. Our dedicated program Women in Fintech Leadership aims to change that by offering:

Program Components
  • ✅ Scholarships and bursaries for female applicants
  • ✅ Leadership modules emphasizing negotiation, stakeholder management, and board readiness
  • ✅ Networking events with female founders and investors
  • ✅ Partnerships with organizations supporting women's careers

Outcomes: In 2024 the program achieved a 48% placement rate for participants in mid-level roles within 6 months of graduation.
